Wooden constable's truncheon with a knob at the end of the handle, gently tapering all along the length and painted black. Traces of coloured embellishment at the top of the shaft, of a crown and the initials 'GR'. Accompanied by printed exhibition label, some missing. Remaining portion reads '[...TABLE'S] STAFF / [...ed] black. "Crown, G. R., in / [...rs]. From Kendal. / [...] Late Chief Constable Cotton.'
