FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY
The Horniman has been used extensively by the BBC, ITV and non terrestrial channels for a range of programmes from dramas to children's shows to documentaries, plus was a location for the feature film Trauma starring Colin Firth and Mena Suvari. The unique spaces include a Victorian-era Natural History gallery with original specimens and wooden cases, a magnificent Victorian Conservatory which can be dressed as required, a dynamic music gallery with video and sound, and a number of beautiful Gardens locations with stunning views over London. The Museum houses over 350,000 objects from all over the world covering world cultures(anthropology), natural history and musical instruments, many of which are available for filming and photography by special arrangement. Horniman curators for each of the collection areas are also available for interview about their specific spheres of knowledge. Interior filming typically takes place outside of the Museum opening hours of 10.30am-5.30pm, or at quieter times, for example school term time afternoons.
