Gardens
A Haven for Wildlife and Visitor
Frederick Horniman's vision was for the Museum and Gardens
to work as one - the living space complementing the Museum exhibits. For over 100 years the 16½ acre Gardens have been a treasured part of the London landscape and a valued urban oasis. Evolution 2010 will unlock the educational potential of this living resource. A restored animal enclosure, new education centre, and musical play area will offer hands-on learning opportunities, while botanical borders and new interpretations will ensure the Gardens play their unique part in opening our eyes to the world about us.
You can download here a copy of the Proposed Master Plan (pdf 1.9mb) for the Gardens redevelopment. More information can be found in the Gardens pages of our main site.
