knowledge. Those who look but do not see go away no
wiser than when they came.

ButterflyProject Update

Following the award of the National Lottery grant through the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund for the Gardens redevelopment, plans for developing the project, as well as raising the remaining funds required, have been moving ahead. Following public consultation, detailed plans have now been developed and work is planned to proceed in the winter once the major funding is secure.

Joe Swift Visits Horniman

Presenter of BBC TV's Gardeners' World and Horniman Patron Joe Swift visited the Horniman over the summer for an update in the Gardens' project and to discuss how he could help the fundraising campaign. Here he discusses our plans to improve access to the Sunken Garden with Gardens Manager Gordon Lucas.

Fundraising News

Our campaign to raise the remaining funds needed to fully fund the project continues and we are talking to charitable trusts, corporate organisations and individuals to discuss how they can support the project. We have recently been very fortunate in being awarded a grant from the Wolfson Foundation, a major supporter of the arts and museums in the UK, and we are delighted to have them behind our Gardens redevelopment.

In the autumn, the Horniman launched its Stakeholder Scheme - a drive to raise £35,000 from the Horniman community. To date, thanks to the generosity of our local supporters, we have now raised £30,000 towards this important milestone. If you would like to know how you could join this important campaign and help play a significant part in our fundraising for the Gardens, please contact Marcus Pugh, Head of Development and Marketing, in the Evolution 2010 campaign office. Tel: (020) 8291 8699, e-mail: evolution@horniman.ac.uk.

We are very grateful to the Wolfson Foundation, and the other funders, for their invaluable support. For a list of donors to the project, visit the Supporters and Patrons page
