To celebrate the birth of both Darwin and his theory of evolution, the Horniman Museum and its partners, the Grant Museum of Zoology and the Society of Biology, staged a photographic competition with the aim of inspiring people to emulate Darwin’s fascination with nature.

217 entries of stunning quality were received with images ranging from the Galapagos to Darwin’s garden in Bromley; from the simplest mosses to our closest relatives, the great apes. The judging panel consisted of: Emma Carter, Dr. Dan Glaser, Kate Humble, Prof. Steve Jones, Randal Keynes OBE, Prof. Diane Newell OBE and Heini Schneebeli. The thirteen winning entries, their diverse subjects underscored by a common investigative spirit, are now on display in Gallery Square. To see the photos online click here.
