Happening at the Horniman: February 2017

Our major exhibition opens and we have plenty of Half Term activities for you to enjoy this February at the Horniman.

Our exciting exhibition, The Robot Zoo, opens 11 February. Come and visit this family-friendly exhibition to see amazing animals recreated in robot form to reveal their inner workings. Tickets are on sale now

You can also see ethical taxidermist Jazmine Miles-Long’s fascinating and thought-provoking display Memorial. A Tribute to Taxidermy until 1 May. Inspired by pieces selected from the Horniman’s historic collection, Jazmine pays tribute to the unknown craftsmen of the past to produce a series of beautiful works that explore the journey from taxidermist to museum.

Half Term

This Half Term, we have lots of enjoyable events and activities for you to explore. 

Join us every weekday for The Nightingale, a charming interactive storytelling performance. Come and hear the tale about a Chinese Emperor’s love for a mechanical bird over a real nightingale. Book your tickets now for this popular event. 

The 15 February is our first Big Wednesday event of the year where we will have a whole day of exciting performances and storytelling inspired by our new exhibition The Robot Zoo. 

We also have lots of family activities taking place throughout Half Term. Take part in a series of challenges and discover our collections in our Horniman Explorers sessions or make your own giraffe and chameleon models in our Family Art Fun craft sessions.

Join us in the Music Gallery on 28 February for a Hear it Live! a talk and live performance on our 1772 Kirckman harpsichord

Our Libary will be open on 5 February with no need to make an appointment. Browse our collections, chat to the librarian and see some of the library treasures.

Don't forget to pop by our Farmers' Market every Saturday for delicious food and to stock up on local produce.
