About this event

Surely there can be nothing better in the whole wide world than to watch a jazz concert at sunset in a deck chair with a drink and view over London? Our new jazz picnic series goes back to the Edwardian roots of jazz and presents three nights of music from 1910s ragtime to 1930s swing.

This week, Benoit Viellefon is proud to present his Hot Club, inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from the infamous Parisian Cafes and nightclubs of the beginning of the 20th century. The Hot Club’s show celebrates the burning excitement of those hot gypsy swing numbers made famous by Django Reinhardt, together with the romanticism of the finest musettes and waltzes from the French tradition. The perfect mix of European finesse and the restless fervour of American swing, the Hot Club are the modern-day embodiment of the spirit of a bygone age.

The Horniman Café will be open and serving food and drinks around the Bandstand.
