About this event

Visit the Horniman after hours and enjoy a night of Latin American music and performances: Colombian circus, Mexican storytelling, Argentinean tango workshops and demonstrations, Chilean film screenings, Latin music, talks and much more.

You can also enjoy a bite to eat in the Horniman Café, which will be open late, and try out some Latin street food and cocktails in the gardens.

Live music – Majagua

  • 6.00-6.40pm, 7.00-7.40pm & 8.00-8.40pm

Majagua will take you on a musical journey through Latin American folklore, with a mix of Cuban son, Bolivian carnavalitos, Venezuelan joropos, Mexican corridos and Colombian cumbia. 

Circus - Circolombia

  • 6.45-6.50pm, 7.45-7.55pm & 8.45-8.50pm

Join us for some dazzling Colombian acrobatics in Gallery Square.

Film – The Suitcase Cinema

Discover a vintage pop up cinema in Natural History Gallery, where The Suitcase Cinema unravel their 16mm reel of À Valparaiso (1962).

Talks and object handling - Life in the Amazon Rainforest

  • 7.00-7.20pm & 8.30-8.50pm – South American object handling
Learn how to make poisonous arrows or to use a blowgun, while Anthropology curator Robert Storrie will share his experience of fieldwork in South America among Amazonian hunters.
