            "value": "Wilfred Henry Abbot, served as a missionary in Wanigela, Papua New Guinea from ca. 1898 to late 1900 before being dismissed for striking a teacher and running up a large bill for 'medicinal' liquor. \n\nAbbot sold curios he collected from the mission to the museum between 1901 to 1903. He described himself as the 'first white settler in Collingwood Bay District, North East' and described the people as 'still canibals, and are still in the stone age, using Flints and Bone Implements'. At the same time Abbot also sold ethnographic specimens to the British Museum and the Manchester museum collections. \n\nAbbott served as an army chaplin from 1914 to 1920 with the rank of temporary chaplain to the Forces 4th Class. \n\nIn July 1938, whilst vicar of St Paul's, Haggeston, he was tried for bankruptcy which was reported in the Ottawa Citizen."
