Carl Dolmetsch

Carl (Frederick) Dolmetsch, son of Arnold Dolmetsch, was renowned for his masterly recorder playing and musical directorship (the Haslemere Festival and the Dolmetsch Foundation from 1947). He simultaneously oversaw the family business in Haslemere.

The company was split up in the 1970s and early 1980s, with the Dolmetsch's losing control over some of the firms. However, in 1982, with the help of his two daughters, Jeanne and Marguerite, Carl regained control of the group. He also had two sons, who were musicians.
