            "value": "historical file; Written note 1;   526   14.11:\nRed ochre used as face paint by the Yavapai Indians, McDowell, Arizona. It is spoken of as \u201choly\u201d, saritj, but it is freely used to give a festive appearance, protect skin from sunburn etc. \nRed ochre is an article of trade among all the tribes of the Southwest. The Yavapai who live near Prescott used to trade it to the Moqui for gourd-rattles. The Moqui obtained their red ochre mainly from the Havasupai, and in turn traded it to the Zu\u00f1i for parrot feathers. The Tewa Indians in New Mexico get their ochre mainly from the Utes, + call it juta p\u2019i\u2019i, \u201cUte red\u201d. They use it for personal decoration, to cure skin eruptions, to defend their eyes from sun-glare, to protect the skin against frost, etc.\nYavapai Indians, McDowell.
