' (This clarinet) is identical to the Bb clarinet made of a nickel-silver double-tube body in one section including the barrel, see Baines, The Bate Collection of Historical Wind Instruments: Catalogue of the Instruments, 1976, 35, no. 448. The mouthpiece on your instrument is only stuck in the 'downward' or 'reed below' position, but could have been turned to play with the reed above, as desired by the player.'
