Bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni as an infant, naked and standing on a double lotus throne. The left hand is pointing upwards to the sky and right hand is pointing downwards to the earth. This figure depicts the newborn historical Buddha, at one of the five key moments in his life.

This type of image is washed by Buddhist priests during the annual ceremony on the Buddha's birthday in May.

Collection Information
