Copper alloy and silver teapot that has a circular copper body with sloping sides, a circular collar and neck of silver alloy heavily engraved with demon heads and designs of scrolls and foliage. The handle takes the form of a dragon's head with a long, curving, scaly neck and the spout ends in an animal head. The point at which the handle joins the body of the pot is copper and silver alloy engraved in relief.
The teapot was made to order by a local smith, who was famous all over the country, of the tiny village of Lhari in the Spiti valley, in the early 20th century. The order was placed by a prosperous peasant of Pu in the Satlej valley. The teapot was then purchased from the son of the original owner in 1933.
