The lacing passes through holes in a single piece of brown and white cowskin which covers the conical section of the shell and open base.  The instrument has a skin apron from which are suspended  numerous strings of glass beads, each terminating in a cowrie shell. The skin head of the drum has been damaged with a large hole.",
