sample (textileworking: dyeing & printing); textile

Rectangular sample of cream cotton textile decorated with batik in brown and blue. The textile is seemingly from a larger cloth as it has been hemmed at only one shorter side. The cream border only appears at this and one of the longer sides. The texile is decorated with lotus motifs arranged in 3 1/2 rows against a patterned ground. The pattern consists of small irregular cream dots surrounded by brown. The brown is subdivided by thin intermittent blue lines creating a grid.
