A rectangular mouth or window is located in the rump. There is a pair of finger holes towards the front of the instrument,  below the rider's torso. The entire surface is covered in a cream\/yellow glaze. A label on the horse's belly reads 'Pottery whistle, Switzerland, 1905: gift of E. Lovell, 1922. 4735'."
