However, a crossover in Sotho (Southern Sotho) and Zulu material culture can be seen, particularly in beadwork of the Drakensberg area where these two cultural groups live in close proximity. It is therefore possible that the above-mentioned implements are Sotho made. Furthermore, it should be noted that the South Sotho were previously a fairly disparate group of peoples (which included Zulu speakers) who were forged into a nation by their first king, Moshoeshoe I (circa 1786 - 1870).
