It is embroidered with a diamond lattice pattern using red,  black and grey\/brown woollen threads.  The mandarin collar is embroidered in identical fashion.  Black velvet fabric (with a gold-coloured printed pattern) has been sewn onto the inner facings of the neckline. The sleeves have two patterns.  One contains a '+' shape, in red,  purple and yellow on a black ground.  The other has a band of black and white diamonds with two green and black bands.  The inside of the cuffs are lined with a floral pattern with a purple ground, made of synthetic (?) fabric in the style of brushed cotton.  The hem has a border of repeating black 'X' shapes with a pink and purple ground.  On the back the pattern extends to form two vertical 'columns' of embroidery.  The embroidery is also deeper at the side seams. \nThe front  panel, in contrast, has just a row of small black diamonds with alternately red and geeen\/grey infilling."
