wall hanging

Susani of dark green cotton embroidered with chain stitch in white, purple, pink, yellow and violet. The central area contains an oval or circle with nine flowers inside in pink, separated by leaves, trefoils in white and two borders: the inner in yellow, the outer white with double hooks; and a bouquet above and below. The centre is enclosed in a square-top arch in two bands of leaves and flowers. This pattern is repeated in the outer border. Between the arch and the outer border (both of which have an absent border at the base) are six panels echoing the central pattern in design, and five panels of bouquets echo the central bouquets. Made in three large panels, embroidered in chain-stitch, aniline dyes.
