            "value": "Carved Dogon doors are very famous and have become important collection pieces. They have several characteristics, used to physically close granaries or houses. In the case of the latter, the carved imageries describe the owner of the household.\n\nThe carvings of the breasts depicted in this case are commonly found on the doors and represent femininity or fertility. Kanaga masks are also common adornments on the doors. According to UNESCO website (http:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/516 download 17.03.13), the serpent is associated with the Hogon, the priest responsible for several villages and is sculpted near the door of his house. The crocodile (caiman), one of the totemic animals of the Dogon, symbolises both water (as fertilising agriculture) and defending against robbers."
