The body is of varnished wood, with a long plated metal bell joint. Ther are five open finger holes and fourteen key covered holes, two of which are on the bell joint. The keys are pillar and axle mounted with round, leather padded flaps, which are domed on the body joints and flat on the bell joint. There is a metal sleeve around the top of the lower body joint with a hole cut for the fingerhole it covers. A brass reed staple is attached to a ribbed wooden pirouette (a tudel), which is fixed to a yellow disc at the top of the body.
