sample (textileworking: weaving); textile

Small rectangular tapestry-woven sampler decorated with a multicoloured panel and border. The red, pink, brown, light yellow, and light and dark green wool weft creates a picture of a coffeepot on a patterned surface against a light yellow ground. This is surrounded by a light green frame which is decorated with red diamonds and dark green chevrons at top and bottom. The cream-coloured cotton warp has been knotted to secure the textile, and create a decorative fringe.
