            "value": "Ritual cloth  Hi'i mea, huri wo pidu, huri wo keraba. handspun, natural dyes. Ritual cloth, possibly also funeral cloth. Wini Migi, village of Guri Mone Harru, Mesara. Dim: L: 160cm (warp), l: 79cm (39+40). (Purchased in April 2002). There are two types of hi'i mea for funeral, with or without ikat patterns. The number of small ikated bands gives in fact the name to the piece: huri wo pidu, not the large ikat bands with a diamond shape motif reminding of a wo hepi pattern. The fact that the ikated bands are bordered with kelutu mea gives the name wo keraba to the weaving. Wo keraba is also the name of the trough for feeding pigs. Nobody could explain the name wo keraba in relation to the weaving. Hi'i mea with such loose weaving are used to wrap a deceased person. The weaving is made of two unequal halves with red edges at the seam. This type of weaving is rare and can only be woven at very specific time of the year. I saw this weaving during a ceremony, mane wai, for weaving funeral cloths. (Duggan 2001: 70) in April 2002. Short after I was offered the piece to buy."
