The merger of Boosey & Co. with Hawkes & Son took place in 1930, but the newly formed Boosey & Hawkes retained the established Boosey & Co. name for many instruments produced in its early years. Another valuable inheritance from Boosey & Co. was the musical instrument collection that was established under the auspices of its visionary Works Manager David James Blaikley. Boosey & Hawkes retained the collection and supplemented it with examples of unusual or representative instruments from its own production lines and from other companies. This horn was retained for the collection and was displayed in the museum at the company's Edgware factory.
