                    "transcription": "The Crystal Palace in Hyde Park for the Great International Exhibition of 1851.\n\nThe building was designed by Joseph Paxton ESQ of Chatsworth and the details of construction were arranged by Messrs Fox Henderson & Co who are the Contractors for executing the Work. \n\nThe dimensions are 1848 feet long by 408 feet wide exclusive of Machinery Room 936 feet long by 48 feet wide. The height of the Principal Centre Roof is 66 feet and of Transept Roof 108 feet. The space occupied is 752 832 superficial feet and the space provided on the Galleries is 102528 feet. The total quantity of Exhibiting Surface is about 21 acres. The total cubic contents of the building is 33,000,000 feet . The content amount for use waste and maintenance is \u00a379800 or little more than 9\/16 of a penny per foot cube. The total value if permanently retained is \u00a3150000 or rather less than 1 \u00bd d per foot cube. The quantity of glass used is about 900000 superficial feet. Weighing upwards of 400 tons. 3300 Cast iron Columns varying from 14 ft 6 in to 20ft long 2224 Cast iron Girders 1128 intermediate Bearers for supporting the floors 34 miles of Gutters and 202 miles of Sash Bars. The Length of Table for exhibiting is 8 miles including Galleries"
