The Horniman Museum will be closed from 24-26 December. The Horniman Gardens will be closed 25 December only.
Fan shaped into a quasi-triangle with rounded edges formed of a frame of two long splints, the space within packed with strands of root held in place by five bands of broad stitching. The whole is edged with a strip of bamboo stitched onto the frame. A handle is formed of a wide strip of bamboo skin, curved back into the frame, where it divides into two and curved outwards to farm a part of the framework.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
