head ring (head ornament)

Fibrous head ring covered in red cloth, with a rectangular red cloth band hanging down the back. The band is decorated with multi-coloured embroidery, chiefly rred, green and yellow, and mirrorwork and is bordered with cowrie shells; there are five tassels attached to the bottom of the band, two of maroon cord ending in cowries, the other three mostly of indigo-dyed cord ending in bobbles.
