The house no longer appears to exist, with modern houses in its place. \n\nThere is, however, a strong link between the James family and Ightham, and there is a connection between Ightham and Queen Elizabeth. Ightham Court was acquired by William James by 1600 and remained in the ownership of that family for over 300 years. The three great houses of Ightham were Ightham Court, Ightham Mote and St Clere, the latter now in the parish of Kemsing. Ightham Mote was owned by the Selby family for 300 years. Dame Dorothy Selby was a lady in waiting to Queen Elizabeth I. \n\nF.
