Each stripe had three parallel lines of tacking stitches approx 2\" apart sewn diagonally across the cloth. All the sewing threads were pulled up tightly and tied. The silk was then dyed grey. Binding was added to the areas bunched up by the sewing, that is to each stripe and each triangle. The silk was then dyed black.\" Anne Maile"
