                    "value": "Steve Dickinson acquired the day books, production ledgers and reed chart workshop book circa 1974. The items were acquired from his employer, Boosey & Hawkes. Dickinson was a concertina maker at the company. The volumes came to be in the ownership of Boosey and Hawkes through a series of company buy-outs and mergers: Besson purchased the company Wheatstone around 1940; Boosey and Hawkes later purchased Besson.  Concertina manufacture at Boosey and Hawkes was based at their Edgware factory from 1961; and continued until 1974 when the death of Sid Watkins brought concertina making there to an end. At this point Dickinson acquired the tools, ledgers and rights to make concertinas in the Wheatstone name. Dickinson transferred this collection of ledgers to the Horniman Museum circa 2007, where they have been kept in the archive store since."
