Inscribed in black ink inside the back cover is \u2018Mr Distin\/London 1831\u2019 (probably John Henry Distin [1793-1863] the founder of the Distin dynasty of brasswind players and makers). The second illustration of the Distin family in the book is based on the well-known lithograph by Charles Baugniet (1814-86). The ends of cardboard, covered with leather stamped with a design of foliage.",
