            "value": "Large foolscap manila folder containing the typescript of a paper read at the Royal College of Advanced Technology, Salford in 1963 on \u2018The Problems of Brass Instrument Manufacture\u2019 by F C Draper.  Draper was an engineer who worked at Boosey & Hawkes in the mid-20th century.  He was very much responsible for further developing the machining for the mass production of both woodwind, and also brass, instruments at Boosey & Hawkes during the 1950s and 1960s.  This was technology that built upon the concept and tooling of precision engineering that was introduced into the Edgware Factory during World War II by the firms that came into the factory, such as the aircraft manufacturers, Handley Page, who worked to produce aircraft components and munitions.  And having this machinery and having engineers in the factory, very much, helped Boosey & Hawkes to think about mass production technology and the tooling and the engineering behind it and really, in a sense, introduced the concept of precision engineering to Edgware.  And F C Draper was very important in implementing that."
