Pages at the end of the manuscript appear to be timelines relating to the history of the clarinet and dates of relevant composers and musicians. The final section of the manuscript contains a list of published sources and references used.",

And a lot of this material ends up in Jack Brymer\u2019s book, \u2018The Clarinet\u2019 and it\u2019s likely that McGavin may well have been, in a sense, the ghost-writer, the ghost author of Brymer\u2019s book on the clarinet.  The two of them were clearly collaborating, although in the final published book, which appeared after McGavin\u2019s death, McGavin\u2019s contribution does not seem to have been acknowledged."
