There are two types reference code used: (1) collections are referenced with a \u2018C\u2019 number which was designated to the collection while it was held by the Horniman Library (e.g. ARC\/PH\/C086). After that individual items are referenced with a running number. (2) Collections with no \u2018C\u2019 number are referenced using an abbreviated version of the location, culture, people or subject depicted (e.g. ARC\/PH\/INDIATEMPLES). After that individual items are referenced with a running number."
