            "value": "These beads are made by women of the San people in Botswana (perhaps the oldest surviving indigenous people in Africa, once known as Bushmen). The beads are made from ostrich eggshells, which were useful water containers in the desert and were used to make beads when they were broken. \n\nThe shell pieces are shaped into rough circular beads and holes are drilled in the centre of each one.  The beads are strung on sinew and the edges are rubbed against a stone until they are smooth.  The polished beads are rethreaded with sinew to make necklaces, belts and headbands."
