He is a drunken clown character who talks amusing nonsense. The Bondres Bues character is part of the Topeng Pajegan. Pajegan , one person playing many characters, so basically it refers to a one-man show where the dancer\/actor gets to show off all his skills and versatility. The people of Bali have many festivals and ceremonies that are dedicated to different special days in the Balinese calendar. Dance and mask drama is very important part of these traditions. It is a reflection of people\u2019s relationship with God and the world around them.",

Before becoming carvers they must experience a purification ceremony and understand the rituals connected with sacred masks. The use of wood used for making a mask is very important. Sacred trees have to be prayed to and asked permission of to use their wood. The pule tree is often used for making more common masks like Topeng. It is strong but not too thick which makes it easier to carve. It is also light in colour, which helps when painting it."
