            "value": "Bass martintrompete. Flattened mouthpipe leads directly into conical section housing two valves. Four reeds: d, c, H (b natural), G, inside metal tubes are mounted on a circular bass plate lyre mount. Each terminates in a conical bell which goes through two rather angular curves and then curves over the player's head in helicon format. The four bells are joined in a square by baluster shaped tubular stays. There is a very crude, bolted together stay between the reeds and the shoulder bar. Water keys on each bell at lower front corner. A tubular metal stay completes the \"circle\" and would allow the instrument to be worn over the left shoulder and under the right arm. Finger grip has knurled decoration. Maker's mark: Martin Signal, in an oval cartouche in bell c. Original brass finish - never plated. Extensive mends have been carried out on the bells."

Flattened blowpipe leads directly into a conical wind chamber housing two piston valves. Four free reeds labelled: d, c, H (b natural) and G; positioned on circular reed plate immediately below the two valves. Four cylindrical cartridges positioned in a square formation below reed plate. Each of the four cartridges leads to a cylindrical brass pipe. The pipes angle downwards at about 90 degrees and are then angled again, this time at a more acute angle. Water keys  positioned on outsides of  second bends. After second bends,  pipes are bolted to conical bell branches, which curve upwards then forwards and terminate in four bells positioned in a square formation. Tabbed seams visible down side of each bell. Overall shape resembles a helicon format, and a  stay of brass tubing connects the 'H' bell to front of instrument to form a shoulder support. A bolted together stay between the cartridges and the shoulder support. Socket for music card holder attached to \u2018d\u2019 cartridge. A finger ring with a knurled outer surface attached the \u2018G\u2019 cartridge. Maker's mark stamped in an oval cartouche on bell c: MARTIN\/SIGNAL"
