Both ends of the pipe are stopped, and a short connecting pipe links the blown pipe to the top of the main pipe. Both ends of the  blown pipe are attached to the body with orange cords. The main pipe has a inward taper towards the distal end, where a node has been opened. The window is small and rectangular and is positioned on the underside close to the proximal end. There are five large round finger holes on the top surface and two similarly sized vent holes at the sides near the distal end. A faint white line is painted between the finger holes, and the word: SALLEVA; is written longditudinally in green ink at the lower end of the top surface."

Vendor: Rumillajta Instruments,119 Ashley Road, Bristol, BS6 5NU. Played transversely, with a narrow bamboo blowpipe 42 cm long attached by small bamboo pipe at right angles to main bamboo tube. Lip on opposite side to fingerholes. 6 fingerholes, 4 vent holes. Length of main tube 942 mm. M17-1990 and M33-1990 are a collection of Bolivian instruments of professional quality sold to the Horniman Museum by the Bolivian musical instruement maker and kena player, Adrian Villanueva of Casilla 10640, La Paz, Bolivia (through Rumillajta Instruments, Bristol). Mr Villanueva provided the following information about the moce\u00f1os: they are found all over Boliva and are representative of Aymara culture. In Walata, Mr Vallanueva's home town, they are played in large groups with the caja drum at weddings, birthdays and carnivals. Sometimes a trumpet, introduced after the Conquest, will also play with the group."
