            "value": "The 'English' system concertina was invented by the scientist Charles Wheatstone (1802-75) and was patented in London in 1844. Each end of the instrument has four parallel rows of buttons with supports for both thumb and little finger. The button layout is logical and fully chromatic in the key of 'C'. Playing a scale is accomplished by alternating with the left and right hands, a system that allows very high speeds to be achieved when playing a melody. This instrument is unisonoric, where a press and draw on each button gives the same note, and is therefore distinguished from the 'Anglo' system concertina which is bisonoric, producing different notes on the press and on the draw."
