The back of the neck and the bowl-shaped body are both elaborately ornamented with inlaid star-shaped patterns in coloured woods and bone. The table is of plain wood with two small sound holes above and below the bridge. The fingerboard has fine inlaid patterns with a shaped ivory plaque and a mother-of-pearl rectangle. The strings are tuned from two wooden front entrant pegs and two side entrant pegs. The pegs are unperforated, hammer-shaped with bone finish.  The strings are plucked with the nail of the player's right index finger. Made in Shiraz."
