            "value": "S\u0101ra\u1e45g\u012b, fiddle carved from a single block of wood. The waisted body with goat(?) skin table, and inscribed in ink 'Sarangee\/India\/circa 1700'. A strip of red leather is stuck to the table below the waist for the bone bridge to rest on.  Thirteen wire sympathetic strings are tuned from pegs with pointed heads set laterally into the neck. A strip of ivory is set diagonally into the front of the neck and pierced with thirteen holes for the sympathetic strings to pass through.  The peg-box has four lateral pegs with large round heads for the gut bowed strings, which pass through through a carved out multifoil arch (mahrab). There is an ivory nut for the three main strings and an individual nut for the black gut laraj? string.  The gut strings sit in grooves on the top of the bridge, while the sympathetic strings pass through holes below. Integral inferior string-holder with four holes for the gut strings and thirteen smaller holes for the sympathetic strings, many of which are broken."
