M30-1985\nSeraikella Chhau dance ensemble, Seraikella, India\nMr Gopal Presad Dubey, Seraikella dancer, Seraikella, Singh-Bhum, Bihar, India (vendor) \u00a360\nWooden shell almost cylindrical, tapering slightly at each end.\nTwo hide heads tensioned by strips of leather.\nRed cotton cover.\nLength: 53 cm.\nDiameter of heads within tension hoop: 25.5 cm.\nIn wooden travelling box.\nSeraikella Chhau dance ensemble consists of muhari (transverse flute) M29-1985, 2 dhols (M30-1985 and M31-1985) and nagara (M32-1985) (kettledrum). The dancers wear jingling pellet bells on their ankles.\nSee M35-1985 Dhumsa (large kettledrum) for documentation."

            "value": "Dhol, double membrane barrel drum. Wooden body is almost cylindrical but tapers slightly at each end. Hide membranes secured by hoops that are flat and angle inwards above the heads. The membranes are stretched tightly across the hoops, allowing the hoops to retain the tension without touching the rims. They are secured by leather lacing, threaded through the slits midway up the hoops and arranged around the body in a narrow 'V' formation. A red cotton covering is wrapped round the outside and secured by a short uncoloured cotton cord to the lacing. With wooden travelling box (M30a-1996)."
