Brass reed, which is rectangular with a circular end where it is secured to the plate. The underside shows that two pins are attached (or part of) this circular section and continue to the back. The slot for the reed is rectangular and has been cut in two sizes. The top level is the size of the reed (13x3mm). Beneath this it widens out to 14x7 mm. Scratched into the lower surface down one side of the slot: 378 [pitch?], down other side: Cuisoliuol[?]",

            "value": "Typotone, mouth blown free reed instrument. The gold reed is rectangular with a circular foot at the end. This section is rivetted to an elongated octagonal mother-of-pearl plate with two gold pins. The slot for the reed is rectangular with stepped edges, creating a wider rectangular opening on the proximal face. '378' is incised on the surface of this face on one side of the slot, and 'Pinsonnat' (?) on the other side (although this is barely legible). The case is of wood covered with red paper and lined with cream coloured velvet. Brass catch mechanism on front face. 'TYPOTONE' is printed in gold on the top surface, within a gold double frame."
