The drum is mounted on a triangular section of a bamboo frame.  An axle set into the rectangular section of the frame bears two pottery wheels. Two rectangular slips of bamboo are mounted on the axle between the two wheels. When the toy is pulled along by a thread the slips of wood rotate and engage with two \"beaters\", bamboo spills suspended above the drum-head by a length of twisted string, which strike it in rapid succession."

            "value": "Drum chariot. toy drum on a trolley with a ratchet mechanism. Small ceramic kettledrum with a hide membrane glued in place. The drum is attached to a frame made from strips of wood, tied with a coarse vegetable fibre string into the shape of a rectangle with a triangle above. The drum fits into the triangle and the rectangle has a wooden axle passing through the middle with red ceramic wheels tied to each end. At the centre of the axle are two rectangular wooden tongues, protruding from both sides and set at 90 degrees to each other. These engage with two narrow wooden beaters, which are held by a twisted cord running parallel to the axle. A red and green thread to pull the toy is attached at the apex of the triangle."
