The spike has a square section at the top where two pegs are inserted from the rear. One string is of gut, the other of cord. They are both tied to the lower end of the spike. The bridge is a low, flat block of soapstone (?). The finial is a square of bone. Bow: A length of cane, 4 1\/2 segments. The hair is held in place by a notch at one end round which it is looped, and passes through a hole at the other where it is secured with a knot.
