A soundboard consisting of a sheet of bark is attached by means of wooden pegs. The neck [end?] is a straight branch with a knee at its lower end; this is inserted into the wall at the end of the instrument. 5 split cane strings are wound onto plain pegs, split at one end to secure the string. At the other end, the strings pass through the soundboard and the tongue that passes underneath it and are secured to wooden toggles. A chevron-pattern is painted onto the soundboard, and a pattern of lines has been burnt into the resonator.",

            "value": "Angle harp. Acquired: [handwritten: (ex Turnbull?)] Congo. Of crude construction. The soundboard is a sheet of bark, nailed to the resonator with wooden pegs. The neck and string-holder are formed from the same piece of wood.  The string-holder is inserted into the wall of the resonator at one end, and runs beneath the soundtable.   Five split cane strings (of which one is missing) are wound onto pegs split at one end to secure them. The strings pass through the soundboard and are secured to the string-holder beneath it with wooden toggles. A chevron-pattern is painted onto the soundboard, and a pattern of lines has been burnt into the resonator."
