Green painted cylindrical body. Hide membranes held by deep counterhoops, painted black. Each counter hoop has a series of round holes through which the lacing passes and each has a single rectangular hole, a snare across the bottom membrane passing through the lower. A rope lacing passes between the counterhoops in a 'V' formation, with an additional length of rope wrapped round the lower part of the body and reverse looped through the bottom of each 'V'. A leather tug ear is attached to each 'V' in the lacing at the top. A rectangular metal bracket attached to the side of the body. An iron bolt passes vertically through this with a wing nut at the top and a hook at the bottom attached to the snare. There is also a small round hole in the body beneath bracket. A decorative brass anchor attached to front of body, and a partially legible label adhered to the drum reads: 'This drum is a Russian Naval drum.
