A small costrel formed from a number of dark, wooden slats with two iron bands, one at either end. On one of the slats there is a protrusion, which has a round hole, into which a cork stopper fits. The two slats either side also have round holes, with one larger than the other. Incised on both ends of the costrel are the letters EC.
