pipe (narcotics & intoxicants: smoking)

Cream-coloured clay pipe with a stem that has been broken at the tip. The bowl is bulbous and there is some incised line decoration just below the bowl. The heel is large and has the mark of a hand or gauntlet. There is an inscription 'Amesbury 17th cen' in pencil on the side of the stem.
